Vibraphone Cheap – the most important at a glance
Vibraphone
A vibraphone is a musical instrument in the percussion family. The vibraphone resembles the xylophone, marimba, and glockenspiel. Each bar is paired with a resonator. The resonators amplify the sound of the bar and create the instrument’s distinctive tremolo effect by causing the bars to vibrate.
The vibraphone is played by holding two mallets in each hand and striking the bars. The player can produce a wide range of dynamics by striking the bars harder or softer. The vibraphone is a versatile instrument that can be used in a wide variety of genres, including jazz, rock, and gospel.
The first vibraphone was invented in 1916 by Berkeley, California–based musician and instrument designer Leon James. James’ vibraphone was modeled after the xylophone and featured a keyboard of either 21 or 25 keys. The instrument was originally intended to be played with mallets, but James later designed a set of finger plates that could be attached to the bars, allowing the instrument to be played with the hands.
The vibraphone became popular in the 1920s and 1930s, particularly in jazz bands. Musicians such as Lionel Hampton and Red Norvo played the instrument on numerous recordings. The vibraphone fell out of favor in the 1940s and 1950s, but enjoyed a resurgence in the 1960s and 1970s thanks to artists such as Steve Cropper and Stevie Wonder.
Today, the vibraphone is manufactured by companies such as Yamaha, Pearl, and Musser. The instrument is relatively expensive, costing upwards of $2000.
The Yamaha YV6200 is a highend vibraphone that features a fouroctave range, 25 bars, and a durable frame. The Pearl VB500 is a midrange vibraphone that features a threeoctave range, 21 bars, and a lighter frame. The Musser M55 is a budgetfriendly vibraphone that features a threeoctave range, 21 bars, and a plastic frame.
The main difference between the various vibraphones on the market is the number of octaves each instrument is designed to play. The Yamaha YV6200 is the only vibraphone on our list that can play four octaves. The Pearl VB500 and Musser M55 are both designed to play three octaves. The frame of the Pearl VB500 and Musser M55 are also made from different materials. The Pearl VB500 has a lighter frame, which makes it easier to transport, while the Musser M55 has a plastic frame, which makes it more affordable.
